Following the much anticipated release and success of their hugely popular singles Wild Heart and Magic earlier this year, South African indie-pop group December Streets have just released their eagerly awaited new single, titled, ‘Messed Up.

‘’This is one of the tracks that has been brewing in my mind for quite some time, evolving and growing in concept & arrangement’’, says December Streets frontman Tristan Coetzee, ‘’During a writing session a month or so back we unearthed the chorus to the track again and almost fell off our chairs in excitement. It’s interesting how some songs need some time to mature and rise up at the right moment. Using the chorus melody, we began to unfold and flesh out the song, dipping into provocative yet assuring and feel good lyrical content that shaped the track into what it is now.’’

The track speaks to losing oneself to the vices the world has to offer, but eventually meeting a counterpart who understands your pitfalls and finally gravitating toward the realization that the ups & downs of life are in fact, more colorful. When traveling through the ups and downs with a person that truly gets you. Hence the hook, ‘At least I messed up with you’.

They do what December Streets do best in this track – combining fresh pop sensibility, building melodic hooks into a story that resonates with a life experience. ‘Messed Up’ is the pinnacle of December Street’s song-writing and production growth and they can’t wait to share it with the world and begin writing the next big hit!
